Obituary: Barnum – At Woodstock Genral Hospital on Saturday, September 1, 1973, Larry Barnum, beloved husband of Elsie (North) Barnum, 258 Knightsbridge Road, Woodstock, in his 80th year. Dear father of Betty of Glendale, California, Mrs. Grace McConologue and Mrs. Gordon (Jean) Hughes, of Woodstock. Brother of Frank of Oshawa. A granddaughter, Susan McConologue also survives. Friends will be received at the M. D. (Mac) Smith Funeral Home, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Donald Powell of Saint David's United Church officiating. Interment in Oxford Memorial park Cemetery.
From an unknown contemporary newspaper: Retires Today. Local manager for the T, Eaton Company Limited, Larry Barnum of 810 Wilton Crescent, retires today, on pension. For the past 20 years Mr. Barnum has been a figure in the business life of Woodstock. Prior to coming here, he was manager for the same firm in Midland and Linsay at which points he was a member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs. With a toal of 37 years service, Mr. Barnum has well earned his retirement. His future plans include a visit early next year to California where his daughter Betty lives. Mr. and Mrs. Barnum have two other daughters, Grace at home and Jean, Mrs. Gordon Hughes of Woodstock. A veteran of the First World War, he served overseas with the 1st Canadian Field artillery. He is a member of Central United Church, Woodstock.
Upon the death of his father, Lorenzo inherited the rebellion box given to his great grandmother, Lydia (Weaver) Barnum by the maker, Henry Weaver (relation not known) from his prison cell. He died at Woodstock General Hospital
