From the Eugene Register-Guard, (Eugene,Oregon), February 28, 1932: A. E. Barnum died at his home on Route 3, Eugene, Friday (February 26) at the age of 83 years. He had been ill two months. Mr. Barnum was born at Hudson, New York February 20, 1849 and came from Nebraska to Lane County in 1904. He was married to Alice Johnston in Iowa in 1871 the couple having celebrated their sixtieth anniversary last July. He is survived by his widow Alice; two sons, M. L. Barnum of Pleasant Hill and H.M. Barnum of Linslaw and one daughter, Mrs. E. S. Etherington on Mount Clemens, Michigan; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Interment is in the old IOOF cemetery.
