Mrs. Barnum was librarian of the Royal Oak Ladies Library Association. On Sept. 30, 1898, the library is comprised of over 1000 volumes at a value of $500.00. (On Nov. 13, 1898 Ira Barnum died. Charlotte married Edgar Burley on June 21, 1902). From a newspaper obituary with genealogist notes ( ): The people of Clio and vicinity experienced a sense of deep sorrow and of personal loss when it became known that Mrs. Edgar Burley had passed away at her home, in this village (Clio), Sunday evening, Feb. 15, 1920. She had been ill for a number of weeks, very seriously so for about two weeks prior to her death. She was esteemed by all who knew her as an exemplary wife, a kind and helpful neighbor and a devoted, generous friend. Charlotte M. Rose was born at Royal Oak, Mich., November 28, 1861, and came to this section of Michigan with her parents when a child (1869). She was first united in Marriage to Ira P. Barnum, who passed away 21 years ago, and four years later, June 21, 1902, was married to Edgar Burley. She was a valued member of the M.P. Church and auxiliary societies. Surviving are the bereaved husband and nine brothers and 3 sisters, the latter as follows: Richard H. Rose of Royal Oak; William Rose of Argentine; Daniel Rose, of Flushing; Henry K. Rose of Burt; Mrs L. Servis (Rosalia Rose Servos) and Mrs. James Blight (Rosina Rose), of Montrose; Mrs Thomas Carter (Emma Rose), of Clio; Mrs L.A. Wright (Grace Rose), of Detroit, and Clyde Rose of County Line. Those in attendance at the funeral from out of town were as follows; Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Wright of Detroit, Percy Palmenter (Parmenter) and wife (Charlotte B. Hall) of Birmingham; Richard Rose (brother), wife (Anna McEachin) and daughters (Gladys May & Mildred I.), of Royal Oak; William Rose (brother), wife (Sarah Jane Holister) and sons (Claude & William), of Argentine; Henry Rose (brother) and wife (Maud S. Wilsey) of Burt; Miss Lottie Rose (niece, daughter of Daniel Rose) Lafayette Servis (Servos) and wife.
