A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From the Delphos Republican of August 13, 1936: Etta G. Rolph was born near Fredonia, New York, on Dec. 11, 1862, and departed this life at Leon, Iowa, on August 4, 1936, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 24 days. At the age of nine years she moved to Kansas with her parents and located on a farm near Delphos, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood. On Sept 23, 1880, she was united in marriage to Levi R. Barnum. To this union two children were born: Cecil Rolph, now of Leon, Iowa, and Ray Eugene of Atoka, Okla. They moved to Delphos in 1909, where she lived until the death of her husband on Oct. 12, 1929. Since then, she has made her home most of the time with her son, Ray, in Atoka, Okla., and the balance with her son Cecil at Leon. She united with the Methodist Church at Delphos in 1910, where she had always retained her membership. Besides her two sons, she leaves to mourn her loss, one brother, Fred D. Rolph, of Streator, Ill., five grandchildren, Bernita and Elmo of Leon, and Beuford, Barbara and Beatrice Lee of Atoka and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Delphos, Kansas, Thursday afternoon, August 6.
