From the Times Record, Troy, New York, Friday, November 6, 1970: Alfred B. Chard, 63, of 1000 Second Ave., was found dead at his residence, Thursday afternoon by his son, Alfred N. Chard of 82 James St., Green Island. His wife, Irene St. Hilaire Chard, is in Palmdale, Calif., visiting another son, Kenneth G. Chard. Mr. Chard was pronounced dead at his home by Dr. James V. Barrett, who estimated the time of death as sometime Wednesday afternoon or evening. Coroner Anthony E. Matera investigated and said death was due to natural causes. Mr. Chard had been under the care of a physician. A native of Green Island, he resided in Waterford for nine years before moving to Troy two years ago. He was employed by the Ford Motor Co., Green Island, for 35 years and was a foreman at the time of his retirement about five years ago. In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by, two brothers, Norman Chard of Troy and William Chard of Cohoes; a sister, Mrs. Edmund (Margaret) Lewis of Green Island, and eight grandchildren.
