Notes for Andrew DAVIDSON


Andrew came to America with his family in 1846. During the Civil War, he served in the 121st New York Volunteer Infantry, and later as an officer in the 30th US Colored Troops. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor at the Battle of the Crater. Following the war he became the editor of the Otsego Republican, a weekly newspaper in Cooperstown, New York. He served a term in the New York State Senate and at the time of his death, in 1902, was Commandant of the New York State Soldiers' and Sailors' Home in Bath, New York.
