Notes for Barbara Jean BARNUM


Obituary from U.S. Cemetery and Funeral Home Collection: Barbara Jean Shortt, 77 years, passed away on June 10, 2012 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her family by her side. Barbara was born March 4, 1935 in Ava, MO to Clifford and Mary (Novak) Barnum. On September 20, 1951 Barbara married the love of her life, Marvin Shortt, in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union five children were born. Barbara was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. She was a member of Jehovah Witness, Mansfield, MO. Barbara's main priority in life was her family and her faith. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the lake with her family. She delighted in being with her grandchildren and especially Kasey. Barbara's family would like to say a special "THANK YOU" to all the staff and residents at The Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare for the special care and kisses they gave her. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin Shortt in 1991, five brothers and sisters, Barney, Earnie & Tony Barnum, Patricia Szczechowski and Geraldine Walker. Barbara is survived by five children and their spouses, Dwane Shortt, Hartville, MO, Anita Kirkland, Ava, MO, Joetta & Matthew Folker, Geneseo, IL, Michael Shortt, Ava, MO and Linda & Randy Kutz, Ava, MO, 17 grandchildren; Davin, Julie, Janie, Marvin,Melissa, Jesse Shortt, Michael & Jason Folker, Jimmy, Nicholas, Christina & Luke Shortt, Justin, Cole, Kody, Kandas & Kasey Kutz, and loving dog "Dingo" Kirkland, several great grandchildren, three siblings, Mary Lee Myers, Ava, MO, Maxine Turner, Ava, MO and Dale Barnum, Bolixi, Mississippi and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Barbara will be Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Ian Arnold. Memorials may be made to Neighbor Helping Neighbor, Ava, MO.
