Obituary for Sophia Krieg (Aged 63) from the Albany Democrat-Herald (Albany, Oregon), 5 Oct 1940, Saturday, Page 2: Mrs. Sophia Krieg Buried on Friday. Lebanon, Oct. 5 (Special)—Final rites for Mrs. Sophia Kreig, 63, who died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elsie Bolt, in Independence, were held in the Masonic cemetery here Friday. Though born in Butler, Missouri, Mrs. Kreig had lived practically ali of her life in this vicinity, as she was brought here by her parents, Mr. and Mrs James McDaniels. when a very stnall child. When 17 years of age she was married to Fred Krieg, the son of Ferdinand Krieg who taught in the Santiam Academy. Since the death of her husband, 10 years ago, she has made her home with her daughter in Independence. Another daughter, Mrs. Doris Barnum, lives in the Philippine Islands and her son Francis in Grant's Pass. Mrs. Bert Cotton and Miss Alma McDaniels are sisters. Her mother, Mrs. James McDaniels, is still living in Lebanon.
