From the Utica Daily Press, Wednesday, June 12, 1985: Robert M. Barnum, Clarks Mills, died June 11, 1985 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Middleville, NY, March 18, 1926, the son of Charles O. and Laura Klumbach Barnum. He received his education at Utica Free Academy and attended Dartmouth, Brown and Cornell Universities. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. He married Mary Sherwood, July 2, 1955 in Utica. He was employed by Western Electric for 25 years as an engineer and retired in 1981. Barnum was a member of Annunciation Church, Clarks Mills, the American Legion and the Pioneers of Bell Telephone. Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother Fred, Ypsilanti, Mi.; two sisters Edith Kerber, Ilion and Jean Clark of Denver, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Ruth Barnum of Sauquoit; several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Roderick and a twin brother, Walter Barnum.
