From the Patriot News, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, October 28, 2009: Francis J. W. Cullen, 90, of Frey Village, Middletown, Pennsylvania, formerly of Lakeland, Florida, passed away, October 25, 2009 in the Harrisburg Hospital. He was born February 20, 1919 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late George B. and Dora M. Cullen. He was married to the late Margaret E. Barnum on September 18, 1948 in Utica, NY. He retired February 22, 1974 from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg, and had worked at the former Olmsted AFB and Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY. He was the recipient of the Air Force Decoration for Meritorious Civilian Service and the Department of the Navy Certificate of Merit. He served with the Army Air Force during WW II seeing service in the European Theater of Operations. Mr. Cullen was a graduate of Lemoyne High School and completed special courses with the College of Advanced Traffic, Chicago, The Air University, Cornell University, Utica College, Penn State University, Ohio State University and the American University, Washington, DC. He was a member of the Lake Gibson United Methodist Church, Roman Lodge 223, F&AM, Rome, NY, Kathleen Lodge 338, F&AM, Kathleen, FL, the Harrisburg Consistory and the Zembo Temple. He was a Past President of the Shope Gardens Civic Association, a Past Master of Travel of the Mid Penn Chapter 17 of the National Camping Travelers, Inc. and was a charter member of the Carriage Royals International Travel Club. He was a member of AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a past member of the Board of Directors of CLH, Inc. Surviving is his daughter, Gayle C. Neely, husband, Gary, of Highspire, PA.
