Most records, including her death certificate call, her Malissa but her gravestone says "Melissa¨. Her parents were John Flick and Eliza Deeds.
From the Lima News, November 16, 1921: Mrs. Marissa [sic] Jane Barnum, 57 died at her home 469 E. Pearl Street, Tuesday night from hemorrhage of the brain. Surviving are four sons, Ellsworth, Carl and Loren, Lima and Floyd, Findlay; one daughter, Mrs. Stella Powell, near Rawson. Interment in Clymer Cemetery.
