Obituary - Friday, 15 June 1906 - Grand Ledge Independent, p. 1, c. 3. Death of Mrs. Sarah Niles. Had Lived in Clinton County and Grand Ledge About Sixty Years. Sarah Cryderman was born in Thamesville, Ont., March 5, 1821, and died in Grand Ledge, June 14 [sic - June 7], 1906, at the age of 85 years.
Miss Cryderman was united in marriage to Ezekiel Niles February 20, 1841. Soon after their marriage they came to Michigan, settling first in Watertown and then in Eagle, where the larger part of their lives was passed. Mr. Niles died May 3, 1890.
There were born to them eleven children, seven of whom survive. Four sons: Winfield, John, William and Rev. Fred Niles and three daughters: Mrs. Elvira Jarman, Mrs. Ella Doty and Mrs. Nettie Newsom.
Mr. and Mrs. Niles were converted in early life and after moving to Eagle they united with the Freewill Baptist church, and later united as charter members with the Grand Ledge Freewill Baptist church in 1872, remaining identified with that church till the close of their lives.
About three years ago Mrs. Niles came to this place, living with her children, during which time she has been quite feeble. Her last illness, which was of several months' duration, was at the home of her son, John Niles.
The funeral obsequies were held from his residence in this city Sunday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. I. Towner, assisted by Rev. W. E. Doty. Interment in Niles cemetery.
