From the Anchorage Daily News, December 19, 2003: Former Alaska resident Terry M. Barnum, 52, died Dec. 13, 2003, in Pensacola, Fla., from a brain tumor. A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Hangar Lounge in Big Lake. Mr. Barnum was born Sept. 5, 1951, in Irwin, N.C. He grew up in North Carolina, Florida, Arizona and Alaska, where he put down roots in 1973. He worked in the restaurant industry until he moved into the electrical field. He then worked for EDI Inc. and Brown's Electric until he retired due to illness. He made Big Lake his home in the mid-'90s. He loved the lake, boating, skiing, snowmachining and spending time with his friends. He moved to Pensacola, Fla., a few years ago and enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. His family said, "Terry will be deeply missed by those who know and love him." Mr. Barnum is survived by his mother, Peggy Ensley of Pensacola; father, Bill Barnum of Gardnerville, Nev.; grandmother, Mozelle Thomas of Smithfield, N.C.; daughters, Jennifer Barnum of Las Vegas and Lisa Vick of Anchorage; grandchildren, Hannah and Dekker; sister Bridgette Barnum of Wasilla; brothers, Michael and Bill Barnum of Pensacola; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Barnum.
