From the Utica Daily Press, April 22, 1958: Linus Barnum, aged 79, of Fly Creek, died April 19 at West Palm Beach, Florida, where he had been spending the winter. He was born June 18, 1878, in Cooperstown. He married Mary Fitzgerald on April 15, 1903. She died in June of 1954. He was employed with the Hewitt-Robbins Laboratory of Buffalo, until his retirement several years ago. He was a member of the Mohican Club of Cooperstown and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Surviving are a [half] brother, Robert D. Caney of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Donald S. Root of New Hartford, several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
