Her daughters Jeanette and Linda were adoped by their paternal grandparents, Elmer and Lena Denby, after her death in 1953. The adoption was entered at court on 30 June 1955. Both children accepted the Denby surname from that time.
Also born to Leonard and Doris were two sons: Henry Patience born 21 September 1947, died at birth; Gerald Patience 7-month miscarriage on 19 July 1949.
