A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From The Herald, Fairport, NY, Wednesday, February 21, 1923: Pittsford, February 19 –The death of Morgan Barnum Stone occurred on Friday afternoon at the residence, Boughton Avenue this village. Mr. Stone was a life-long resident here and his father was Moses Stone. The Stone family were identified with early history of Pittsford, among the pioneers and at one time owned about one-half of the present town of Pittsford, it is being transferred to two brothers Israel and Simon Stone, for a modest sum of $80. Mr. Stone’s mother was a relative of the late PT Barnum of circus fame. Surviving near relatives are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Cattelle Stone; five children , Mrs. Ivy Roaohville of East Rochester; Harry, Percy, and Frank Stone of Pittsford, and Charles of Buffalo; also five grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday at the family home and interment was in the family lot in Pittsford Village Cemetery.
