From the Utica Observer Dispatch, January 27, 2006: Dorothy (Dot) Mae Barnum, 84, of Morgantown, West Virginiia quietly and graciously departed this life Wednesday, January 25, 2006, by the side of her loving husband. She was born January 27, 1922 in Utica, New York, a daughter of the late Joseph and Carolyn Dixon. She is survived by her best friend and devoted husband of sixty-two years, Donald A. Barnum; a daughter, Nancee Devlin and spouse, Edd of Morgantown; sons, Stephen Barnum and spouse, Barbara of Morgantown and Christopher Barnum and spouse, Kim of Morgantown; one brother, Paul Dixon and spouse, Alice of East Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Brad, Shaye, Eddie, Patrick, Christopher, Brian and Brooke; great grandchildren, Marshall, Elizabeth, Reagan, Cooper, Tyler, Kelsey, Zachary, Myles and Connor; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, and her extended family, Dave and Gloria Sullivan. She enjoyed working at the Easter Seals Society for many years. Her family was the center of her life and we all admire and appreciate her gifts of love and devotion, courageous spirit and constant positive outlook on life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Burke. There will be no visitation. Private burial will be in the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
