Notes for Mary BARNUM


From the Mason City Globe-Gazette, Mason City, Iowa, Tuesday, May 19, 1942: Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest T. Cobb, 75, who died Sunday (May 17) night, were held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church, the Rev. James Miller of Bristow conducting the services. Mary Barnum was born March 30, 1868, to Caleb and Sarah Barnum, the youngest of 12 children. She was married to Ernest T. Cobb November 5, 1890, and came to Clear Lake, to a farm in Lincoln Township, later moving to Clear Lake. Mrs. Cobb was a member of the Women's Relief corps and the Methodist church. She is survived by her husband Ernest T. Cobb, and three children, Kenneth Cobb and Mrs. Ray Baker, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Magnus Johnson, Mason City; one sister, Mrs. Julia Newhouse, Connersville, Indiana, and five grandchildren, Madge and Franklin Baker, and Homer, Herbert and Ramona Cobb also survive. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
