From the Star Press, March 31, 2013: Dayton, Ohio - Former Dunkirk and Marion resident and business man, Philip L. Barnum, 88, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 peacefully at home in Dayton, Ohio.
Philip was born August 4, 1924 in Hilgrove, Ohio to the late Paul and Mary Barnum. He grew up in Dunkirk, IN and graduated with the class of 1942. He served in the Army from 1943 until 1946 in the European Theatre.
Philip attended The University of Dayton. He moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1980 where he built, owned, and operated B&L Packaging Co. for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Judith (Stillwagon) Barnum; two step-sons, Jay N. Stillwagon and Marshall R. Stillwagon (Krista); four siblings, Eugene Barnum, Charles Barnum, David Barnum and Illa Yaney; seven nephews and six nieces.
Philip was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Dayton, next to his first wife, Nina Barnum.
