He was enumerated as Henry T. Barnum in the US Census returns of 1900, 1910 and 1930; in 1920 and 1940 he was shown simply as Henry Barnum. His grand nephew Henry Foster Barnum claims him as a namesake and says that his full name was also Henry Foster Barnum. Henry's family called him Junior because his first name was the same as that of his grandfather, Henry Tracey Barnum, and it might be that some members of his family thought his middle name was also Tracey. That would suggest a reason for T appearing as his middle initial in several census enumerations.
From the Toledo Blade (Ohio), 17 Feb 1960: Henry F. Barnum, 62, of 1218 Woodstock Ave., was found dead in the basement of his home yesterday.
Dr. Harry Mignerey, deputy coroner, said he died of a heart attack, probably Tuesday.
Mr. Barnum was born in Troy. O., and lived in Toledo about 30 years. He was a stationary engineer at Flower Hospital.
Surviving are is father, Roy T. Barnum, Astabula, O.; stepdaughter, Colleen Barnum, Waterville, and Brother, Murry Barnum, California.
Services will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Murphy-Roach Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Herbert Dimke of Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
