From an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Curtis Wane Barnum, of Marion, died Friday, July 20, 2001, following a short illness. These are the people who were privileged to be a part of his family: his wife, Jean; their four sons and wives, Mark and Kandis of Pine, Colo., Joel and Amy, Christopher and Jackie and Craig and Jeri, all of Cedar Rapids; and 12 wonderful grandchildren.
Curt was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Gowrie, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Eva Alberda Barnum. He graduated from the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army. He was purchasing manager at Globe Machinery and then director of purchasing at Lefebure Corp. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, Hawkeye sports, the Cubs, fishing, golfing and bowling.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist Church in Marion. The Rev. Stanley Wierson will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
