From the Brewster Standard, Brewster, N.Y., May 10, 1956: Mrs. Helen P. Barnum, wife of George P. Barnum, of Mill Plain District, Connecticut, died May 8, 1956 in Danbury Hospital where she had been a patient for the past week. She had been in failing health for more than a year. Born January 28, 1889 in Pittsfield, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Alice Smeaton Archibald. She had been a resident of Danbury for about 30 years. Besides her husband, she leaves a son by a former marriage, Monroe Taylor De Vars of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Truesdale of Danbury and Mrs. Harry Knapp of Bethel, and seven grandchildren. Surviving also are a brother, Robert Archibald of Worcester, Mass., and two sisters, Mrs. Willard Houghton of West Acton, Mass., and Mrs. Arthur Gray of Oakland, Calif.; also several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at the Tomlinson Homestead, today at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Charles P. Benedict, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiating. Burial is in the family plot in Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster, N.Y.
