From the Utica Herald Dispatch, Saturday, April 3, 1920: Mrs. Eugene E. Barnum, a resident of this city since 1903, and a former resident of Boonville died at 1:30 this morning at her home. She had been ailing all winter and for the last month she had been in a critical condition. Her death was attributed to acute dilation of the heart.
Mrs. Barnum whose maiden name was Jennie McCann was born in Boonville March 11, 1840 [sic, s/b 1860], a daughter of the late Thomas and Jane McCann. Her marriage to Mr. Barnum took place in Boonville and in 1903 she came to this city, where she had since made her home. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Frank T. Barnum; a step daughter, Mrs. Fred McLane of Carthage and a grandson.
The funeral will be held privately at her late home at noon Monday and at 1:45 o’clock the remains will be sent to Boonville where interment will be made in the family plot.
Boonville, April 4.—The body of Mrs. Eugene E. Barnum, aged 80, was brought here yesterday afternoon from Utica for interment in the family plot in Boonville Cemetery. Mrs. Barnum was a former resident of this place. She is survived by her husband, Eugene E. Barnum, her son, Frank T. Barnum and grandson, Frank T. Barnum Jr.
She was a sister of the late John and Thomas McCann of Boonville.
