Notes for William Franklin BARNUM


From the Sioux City Journal, Iowa, March 22, 2007: William F. "Bud" Barnum, 91, of Hawarden passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. William F. "Bud" Barnum was born Aug. 15, 1915, in Hawarden, to William and Elena (Carlson) Barnum. He attended grammar school through the eighth grade in Hawarden. He married Claire Bryson on Oct. 9, 1933, in Yankton, S.D. They lived their entire life in Hawarden. He spent 43 years of his working career at LG Everist, retiring at the age of 74. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Rodney "Rocky" Barnum and Darold "Dari" Barnum, both of Hawarden; four grandchildren, Donald "Joe" Barnum serving in the U.S. Air Force in Brandon, Fla., Troy Barnum and his fiancée, Lori Parks of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Tammy (Barnum) and her husband, Bob Flittie of Fremont, Neb., and Jason Barnum and his wife, Sena of Rapid City, S.D.; and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Ellie" Flittie, Andrew Barnum, Hunter Flittie, Keegan Barnum, Jacob Barnum, Logan Barnum and Brendan Garrison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years; two sons, Frank Barnum on July 2, 2002, and Donald "Donnie" Barnum on June 9, 2003; and a sister, Florence Johnson.
