From the Daily Review, Towanda, Pennsylvania, December 18, 2007: Victoria Ann Barnum Alvarez, 69, of La Vega, Dominican Republic, formerly from Neath, Pa. passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the Cleveland Clinic in the City of Weston Florida, following a lengthy illness. Victoria was the daughter of John and Gertrude Barnum. She graduated from the Northeast Bradford High School in 1956 and attended the Binghamton State Hospital School of Nursing and continued her studies at the Morrisania Hospital in the City of New York. Victoria is survived by: her loving husband, Dr. Rene Alvarez; her two sons, Rene and wife Zobeida Alvarez of New York City; Kevin and wife, Patricia Alvarez of Coral Springs, Fla.; and two daughters, Vicky Ann and Michel Alvarez of La Vega, Dominican Republic; a sister, Jo Anne and husband William White of Ellendale, Del.; a brother, Paul and wife Ada Marian Barnum of Towanda, Pa. She has six grandchildren: Scarlett, Sarah, Catherine, Shantall, Nayira, Rene Jr.; and one great-grandson, Jayden Francisco who was born the day after Victoria died.
She was predeceased by her father, John on Oct. 12, 1982, and her mother, Gertrude, on May 31, 1978. The funeral was held at the Abundant Life Baptist Church in the City of La Vega, Dominican Republic and the interment was at the Lagunas Cemetery.
