From the Daily Review, Towanda, Pennsylvania, April 22, 2015: Paul T. Barnum, 73, of 5 Fourth St., Towanda, Pa. passed away Monday evening, April 20, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Paul was born July 15, 1941 in Sayre, Pa., the son of John W. Barnum and Gertrude Dunham Barnum. He attended Northeast Bradford High School and subsequently served in the U.S. Army from April 20, 1967 to March 23, 1969 during the Vietnam War. On July 15, 1972 he married the former Ada French who recently preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2015. Paul was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Towanda for over 30 years until his retirement. Paul was an active and dedicated member of the Towanda Fire Department, the LeRaysville-Pike Volunteer Fire Department of which he was a charter member and the Bradford County Fire Police Association for many years. Paul served as vice president of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired Employees Endless Mountains Chapter for several years.
He is survived by his son, Boyce Dale Bell and wife Vicky of Georgetown, Kentucky; granddaughter, Shannon and husband Anthony Cowden; and twin great-grandsons, Asher and Liam of Louisville, Ky.; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and William White of Ellendale, Del.; sister-in-law, Violet Koser of Macedonia, Pa.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Maxine French of Elbony, Va.; brothers-in-law, Dr. Rene Alvarez of the Dominican Republic, Rosby French of Laporte, Pa.; as well as several nieces,nephews and cousins.
In addition to his wife, Ada, Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude on May 13, 1978; father, John on Oct. 12, 1982; and sister, Victoria Alvarez on Nov. 17, 2007.Â
A celebration of Paul's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa., with Rev. Robert Martin officiating.
Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa. with Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 according full military honors.
