Notes for Ada Marian FRENCH

From the Daily Review, Towanda, Pennsylvania, February 23, 2015: Ada French Barnum died on February 21, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Township, Pennsylvania after suffering a massive stroke on February 18. It cannot be imagined the party of family and friends that will greet her and what that reunion will be like. She was the daughter of Guy David French and Alice Irene Stevens French of Standing Stone, Pennsylvania. Ada was born in Bell Grade Lakes, Maine with infantile paralysis (polio) which later left her with epilepsy on February 17, 1934. Ada was married to Paul T. Barnum on July 15, 1972 and they lived at 5 North Fourth Street in Towanda, Pennsylvania. Ada was a tireless hard worker and was loved by many. Ada could make the piano keys make glorious tones of love. What a beautiful alto voice she had and sounded like an angel. She instilled in her nieces and nephews that no matter how much money you have to buy material things and keep you occupied for a time, this does not mean you are wealthy. It is what is in your heart that makes you rich. You can count your true friends on one hand. What a very special lady she was.
Ada was a member of the Universalist Church of Standing Stone, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Towanda Chapter No. 76 Order of Eastern Star. She loved to bowl, play cards, do puzzles, loved games on the TV, and until she had her stroke in April, 2007 she embroidered the most beautiful table cloths, pillow cases, and doilies you have ever seen.
Ada is survived by her husband Paul Barnum;son Boyce Dale Bell and wife Vicky of Georgetown, Ky.; granddaughter, Shannon and husband Anthony Cowden and twin great-grandsons, Asher and Liam of Louisville, Ky.; a sister Violet Koser of Macedonia, Pa.; and brothers Charles and Maxine French of Elbony, Va., Rosby and Margie French of Laporte, Pa.; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Joanne White of Ellendale, Del. Ada was predeceased by her parents Guy French on July 22, 1979, and her mother Alice French on Dec. 24, 1999; sisters Minnie (Peggy) Zeidler on June 28, 1961, Edna Baton on May 26, 2005, Patricia Rogers on Dec. 25, 2008; brothers Robert French on Oct. 20, 1988, David French on Oct. 1, 1990, Francis French on Sept. 27, 1991, James French on Aug. 31, 2006; and sister-in-law Ann French on July 31, 2010; and a sister-in-law Victoria Barnum Alvarez in November of 2007; nieces Nancy Rogers Yurko on April 22, 2007 and Barbara Pardoe Huynh on Sept. 30, 2012; and nephews Michael Emerson on Jan. 7, 1969 and Michael Pardoe on Aug. 23, 1994. Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa
