From the Schenectady Gazette, Schenectady, NY, March 14, 1939: Sophie Burhmaster, 61, wife of Ashbell Barnum, who died Friday (March 10) at the home of her daughter [stepdaughter], Mrs. Alfred Brandt of Fairfax Avenue, after a week's illness, was buried in Vale Cemetery yesterday afternoon after a private service conducted by Rev. William A. Hagadorn of Woodlawn Reformed Church.
Mrs. Barnum was born In Germany and had lived most of her life in this city. For more than 10 years she resided a t 105 Victory Avenue. Besides her husband and her daughter, she leaves several nieces and nephews.
