William was a factory worker in Des Plaines. He died in an an automobile accident in which his niece, Evey “LittleTootie” Cikanek was unharmed.
William and Victoria are buried in Willow River Cemetery in Hudson, Wisconsin. Vick was from Hudson and returned there after Bill died.
While they lived in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Vick raised and sold canaries.
From the Daily Herald, Chicago, Illinois, Friday, January 2, 1942: Mr. William Frank Barnum, son of Mr. William Frank Barnum, Sr., and his wife, Mrs. Nellie, nee Roberts, was born in Shamrock, Wisconsin October 2, 1902. Mr. Barnum lived in Shamrock till his marriage February 18, 1926, when he was united in holy matrimony with Miss Victoria Johnson, at Black River Falls, Wis. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Barnum lived in or in the vicinity of Mt. Prospect. For the past 12 years Mr. Barnum was employed at the Benjamin Electric Company in Des Plaines. On Christmas day afternoon, Mr. Barnum suffered an injured neck as a result of a car accident. Mr. Barnum was removed to the Palatine hospital. He was conscious though paralyzed from his shoulders down. Friday morning he lapsed into unconsciousness, from which he did not recover. He died at 1:15 p.m. at the age of 39 years, 2 months, and 24 days. Mr. Barnum leaves to mourn his departure his beloved widow, Mrs. Victoria Barnum of Mt. Prospect; three brothers, Israel of Palatine, Tilford of Woodstock, and Reuben of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; three sisters, Della, Mrs. Henry Gaede of Black River Falls, Mary, Mrs. R. E. Robinson of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Myrtle, Mrs. Emil Cikanek of Palatine; three nieces, Zelma Gaede, La Crosse, Wis., Evangeline and Ethel May Cikanek of Palatine; three nephews, Gaylord and Paul Gaede of Black River Falls, Wis. and Osborn Cikanek of Palatine; a number of uncles and aunts, together with a host of other near and far relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. The remains were removed to Black River Falls on Sunday night where the body lay in state all day Monday, then removed to Hudson, Wis., where the remains were interred in Willow River Cemetery, Hudson, Wisconsin. Rev. W. F. Huebner, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church in Palatine, officiated.
