Also included in the household were: Lewellyn Doyle, 21; John Oaks, 24; Samuel Burns, 30; Sefton Burns, 22; Scott Hall; 18; Wm Barrett, 24; Francis Orff, 21 and John Dubois, 25. All were listed as laborers and it is assumed that they were boarding with the family.
Saltfleet township was established originally in what was then Upper Canada. In 1974 it was amalgamated with the village of Stoney Creek to form the town of Stoney Creek. Stoney Creek itself was amalgamated with the City of Hamilton, Ontario, in 2001.
