Notes for Isaac BALLINGER


From the Sibley Journal, Sibley, Ford Co., Illinois, Friday, Oct. 5, 1923: Isaac M. Ballinger Dead. Isaac M. Ballinger was born March 28, 1853, at Jay county, Indiana, and was the second son of John and Edith Ballinger, deceased. He was married at Saybrook, Ill., Sept. 21, 1870, to Martha M. Barnum, of Chatsworth, and resided on a farm near Saybrook for two years, moving from there to Wichita, Kas., where he was engaged as a contractor. In the year of 1894 they moved to a farm northeast of Chatsworth and two years later moved to Sibley where they have since resided. To this union one son, Jesse C., was born who with the wife survives. Mr. Ballinger had been ailing for over a year and was bedfast since February with a complication of diseases. His death occurred on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and one day. Beside the wife and son he is survived by four brothers, names, Abram, of Gibson City; Samuel of Kansas City, Kas; William and Levi of Blackwell City, Okla; also three grandchildren, LaVerne, Margaret and Jeanet Ballinger. Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday morning at 10:30, Rev. C. E. Franch, pastor of the Christian church at Gibson City, conducted the services. The remains were taken to Chatsworth and buried beside his sister in the Chatsworth cemetery. Rev. T. Reighton Jones, pastor of the Methodist Church of this place, gave a short talk and a prayer at the grave. Mr. Ballinger was one of Sibley's oldest and best known residents. Until the time of his illness he was up town nearly every day and will be missed by the many who were accustomed to his cheery greeting.

Barnum and children, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Myers, of Forrest; Mrs. Mattie Cancer, Mrs. Bert Hill, daughter, Miss Irene, and son Russell, of Cullom; Mr. and Mrs. Dan O'Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rebholz, of Piper City; Mrs. Sarah Harry, daughter, Miss Bertha, and Leonard French, Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Loveosteim and Mr. R. T. Haberkorn, of Chatsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Linn, of Roberts; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Farber, of Elliott; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ballinger and daughter, of Roberts.
