A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From the Brewster Standard, Brewster, N.Y., January 9, 1969: Mrs. Ella Grady Barnum, 86, of Carmel-Brewster Rd., died Thursday, January 2, 1969 at the Green Cabins, Brewster, N. Y. She was born Nov. 19, 1882. She was married January 21, 1960, to George P. Barnum in Brewster where she had lived for 39 years. Mrs. Barnum was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brewster. She is survived by one stepdaughter, Mrs. Harriet Grady Weil, of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Funeral services were held Saturday with the Rev. Donald Hodge of the Brewster Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster. During her long life in Brewster Ella Carpenter-Grady and her first husband raised dogs at their cottage on Tilly Foster Reservoir. They were active in the civil and social life of the community and in the State Charities Aid Society. Last winter Mrs. Barnum sold her home and went to live in the Green Cabins.
