Notes for Dorothy June SMITH


From the Mail Tribune, Medford, Oregon, January 2000: The funeral Mass for Dorothy June Barnum will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Barnum, 79, of Medford, died Thursday (Jan. 6, 2000) in Three Fountains Care Center. She was born June 27, 1920, in Ashland, a daughter of Walter and Mabel J. Smith. She lived in the Rogue Valley all her life and was the third generation of a pioneer Rogue Valley family. On July 17, 1938, in Grants Pass, she married Robert E. Barnum, who survives.
Mrs. Barnum worked at J.C. Penney and at Rogue River Packing Co. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Barnum was active in the PTA and as a Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed homemaking and camping. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Barbara Nygren and Patt Spielbusch, both Medford, and Teresa Barnum, Shady Cove; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
