Obituary from an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Heart Attack Fatal to Horace B. Betts, Native of Southeast Was Engaged in Wholesale Fruit Business in Boston. Funeral Tuesday. Horace B. Betts, of Belmont, Mass., a brother of George Betts, of Carmel, died Friday, January 7, 1944. He suffered a heart attack when coming from work and, going to his car in the vicinity of Boston, where he was in the wholesale fruit business, died immediately. The deceased was born in the town of Southeast, July 22, 1878, the son of Edwin G. and Charlotte Barnum Betts. Surviving him arc his widow and two brothers, Hanford, of Lakeland, Fla., and George, of Carmel. Funeral services were held at his home In Belmont, Mass., on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Betts had visited in Carmel many times with his brother.
