Notes for Dorothy Belle RIFFANACHT


From The Journal & Republican, Lowville, N.Y., Wednesday, November 2, 1994: Carthage - Dorothy R. Bingle, River Rd, Carthage, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the Carthage Area Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Bossuot Lundy Funeral Home, Carthage, with the Rev. Mario J, Gazzilli, pastor of the Beaver Valley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Naumburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) L'Lullier, Carthage; a son, Fred Bingle, Naumburg; three grandchildren, Steven Bingle, Sharon Bingle and Kathryn Bingle Walseman; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Walseman. She was predeceased by nine half brothers and sisters, Ray Barnum, John Riffanacht, William Riffanacht, Sarah Tyner, Ella Bush, Rose Linstruth, Jessie Thompson, Jennie Cummings and Louise Hutchinson.
Mrs. Bingle was, born Feb. 20, 1904, in Castorland, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Beyer Riffanacht. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1921 and from Training Class in 1922. She taught in the District #14 County School until her marriage to Harry D. Bingle on August 5, 1924 in Ogdensburg.
They operated a dairy farm at the site of her current residence. Mr. Bingle died October 1, 1968. She was a member of Beaver Valley United Methodist Church, Naumburg.
