Obituary from an unnamed contemporary newspaper: Burrel L. Barnum, age 69, passed away Monday, August 28, 2006, at his home near Warsaw, Mo., after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on April 11, 1937, at Ava, Missouri, the son of Boyd and Roxie Barnum. He attended school at Ava, and on September 2, 1955, enlisted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1961.
He was employed at Agco Corporation in Independence, Missouri and retired in 1992 to Warsaw to be close to Truman Lake and the big crappie. A friend one said that Burrel could catch a fish out of the bathtub. He attended Mt. Pleasant Church, near Warsaw.
Burrel was married To Ila Maas on September 5, 1961, and she survives of the home. Also surviving are three sons, Bob Barnum and his wife, Linda, of Odessa, David Barnum of Cole Camp, and Kenneth Barnum of the home, one granddaughter, Kimberly Williams and a great-grandson, Haden Williams all of Ava, Missouri, a brother, Jack Barnum, and his wife, Nadine, of Independence, Missouri, numerous relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Burrel L. Barnum will be Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Art Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Warsaw.
