Notes for Robert G. BARNUM


From the Messenger News, Fort Dodge, Iowa, October 11, 2011: Dakota Dunes, S.D. - Robert G. Barnum 69, went home to the loving arms of his beloved heavenly father on October 8, 2011. He was in his home surrounded by family.
A triple celebration of his life, 50 years of Robert and Gloria's lives, and a dedication of the stained glass window (given in honor of 50 years of marriage) will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dakota Dunes, SD, on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, Iowa is serving the family.
Robert was born August 20, 1942 to Floyd and Lennice Barnum at Callender, Iowa. He married Gloria Jean Taylor on January 20, 1961. Two daughters came to follow, Suzie and Jeanne. Robert worked for IBP/Tyson Foods for 41 years, moving his family from Fort Dodge, IA to Kansas, Texas, and back home to Iowa. He retired in December of 2004. Robert and Gloria traveled the country after that and enjoyed each other’s company. Robert wanted to be remembered as someone who always tried to do what was really right.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lennice Barnum. He is survived by his wife Gloria Jean Barnum; daughters, Suzie (Tom) Goetz of Kearney, NE, and their daughter Tristy, and Jeanne (Jeff) Zyzda of Sioux City, IA, and their two children, Haleigh and Aaron; and a brother Allan (Mary) Barnum of West Des Moines, IA.
