From the Journal & Republican, Lowville, N.Y., Wednesday, November 8, 1989: Marie Haldemann Barnum, 99, formerly of Lyons Falls and Dunedin, Florida, died October 30 in Troy after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Surviving are four grandchildren, Mrs. Nancy Gould Carr, New York City; Harry Peter Gould, Houston, Texas; Gene Barnum Gould, Secaucus, N.J.; Heidi Marie Schultheis, Somerville, N.J. Her daughter Bernice B. Schultheis died Sept. 2, 1980. A brother, Karl Haldemann, and two sisters, Dora Haldemann and Anna Louis, died previously.
Born in Switzerland on May 29, 1890, the daughter of Susana and Karl Haldemann, she was a registered nurse. She was married to Edwin A. Barnum in 1909 (sic, s/b 1910) in Utica.
Mr. Barnum was a railroad station agent in Lyons Falls for many years. After retirement, the couple moved to Dunedin, Florida. Mr. Barnum died Feb. 3, 1961.
Mrs. Barnum was a member of Forest Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
