From the Hawarden Independent, Iowa, April 28, 1960: Mrs. Frank (Mildred) Kelhower, 51, a lifelong resident of Hawarden, died Saturday Morning in the Hawarden hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. C.E. Custer officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery.
A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hout, she was born May 29, 1908. She married Frank Kelhower of Hawarden in 1925. She was a member of the Hawarden Methodist church.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, Larry and Donald both at home; her mother Mrs. Ethel Hout of Hawarden; three brothers Clyde Hout of Pitkin, LA., Harold Hout of Hawarden and Frank Hout of Riverside, Calif.; three sisters Mrs. Evelyn Maki of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Ella Boyer of Hudson SD., and Mrs. Cora Collins of Hawarden.
