Notes for Cora A. BARNUM


Cora Barnum was born the daughter of Calvin Barnum and wife Eveline Jennings 27 March 1864.

The 1870  US Census shows her living in Montrose, Genesee, Michigan with her father, mother and siblings.

The 1880 US Census shows her living in Newstead, Erie, New York at the home of her uncle Leonard Barnum.
 
Michigan Marriage Records indicate Cora Barnum married Myron A. Smith on 25 December 1881 in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. He was born 3 May 1864 in Michigan. The son of Ruben Smith and Mary Bailey.
 
The 1900 US Census shows Cora living at the home of her husband Myron Smith in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. The census indicates  they had 7 children, with 6 living. The household includes children Everett (17),  Bernice (15), Elmer (13), Orley (10) and Verah (2) in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan.
 
The 1910 US Census shows Cora living at the home of her husband Myron in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan The census indicates they had 10 children, with 8 living. Children in the household include Vera E (12); Katie D (8); Melvin E (6) and Elden (4).
 
The 1920 US Census shows Cora living in the home of her husband Myron in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. The Children in the household include Melvin (16); Eldon (14) and Frances (8).
 
Cora’s Husband Myron A. Smith died 11 May 1921 in Flushing, Genesee, Michigan (Michigan Death Certificate) of valvular heart trouble. Buried in New Lothrop Cemetery, May 13, 1921.
 
The 1930 US Census shows Cora living at the home of her son Elden in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. Elden is married with one child.
 
The 1940 US Census again shows Cora living at the home of her son Elden in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. Elden is married with three children in the household.
 
Cora died 16 January 1943 in Maple Grove, Saginaw, Michigan. She is buried beside her husband in New Lothrop, Michigan in the Elmwood Cemetery . (seekingmichigan.org; entry label is Cara Ann Smith)
