From the Putnam County Courier, Carmel, N.Y., June 13, 1963: Edwin D. Sherwood, 79, of Route 312, Southeast died Friday, June 7, 1963 at the home of his son Ralph Sherwood. He was born in Connecticut July 11, 1889, son of Theadric and Mary Barnum Sherwood. Mr. Sherwood was educated in Connecticut schools and was a farmer by occupation. He was a member of the Patterson Presbyterian Church. He lived in Southeast for the past 20 years and previously resided in Patterson, Pawling and Brookfield, Connecticut. In 1911, in Patterson he was united in marriage with Miss Hattie Van Keuren who predeceased him. He is survived by a son, Ralph Sherwood of Southeast, a daughter, Mrs. Florence Nix of Croton Falls; a brother Orville Sherwood of Connecticut; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Hanson of Patterson and Mrs. Bertha Alaby of Brookfield Center, Connecticut; five grandchildren one of whom Sgt. Ralph Sherwood is serving in the US Army at Fort Hood, Texas and two great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, New York.
