From the Contra Costa Times, November 8, 2013: Shirley R. Barnum, June 6, 1932 - Nov. 2, 2013, Resident of Walnut Creek. Shirley Ruth Barnum passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2013. She was born June 6th 1932 in Phoenix AZ, to Gene and Lera Smith. Shirley met her lifelong partner Earl Roland Barnum during their high school days in Dunsmuir CA. Shirley attended college at Arizona State University, and shortly after was married to Earl in Tucson, AZ on February 1st 1952. Shirley is survived by her three sons, Scott, Tim (Elaine), Todd, and eight grandchildren, and soon to be great-grand child, and two sisters, Pat and Judy. Shirley and her family moved to Walnut Creek in 1964, where she became a successful real estate broker for over 25 years. In her free time she loved to gather around family, open up her home to friends, ski in Tahoe, and travel the world. It is time to celebrate her life; so please join us at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church in Walnut Creek on Monday, November 11th.
