Notes for Charles Franklin ROGERS


From Portrait and Biographical Album of Fond Du Lac County, Wisconsin: Containing Full Page Portraits and Biographical Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens of the County, 1889: Charles Franklin Rogers,who resides on section 19 in the town of Rosendale, has been a resident of this county since 1845, and is one of its extensive sheep raisers. He was born in Lowville, Lewis County, N.Y. on the 11th of March 1817, and is a descendant of John Rogers, the martyr, who was burned at the stake being of the eighth generation.
In Binghamton, Broome Co., N. Y., Mr. Rogers was united in marriage with Miss Arabella Barnum daughter of Dr. Forward Barnum of Berkshire County, Mass, and a cousin of P. T. Barnum, the eminent showman. The wedding was celebrated on the 30th of January, 1860, and the bride was given away by Gov. Dickenson. Two children have been born unto them, sons: Samuel B., who is an attorney-at-law and Buell S., who is attending lectures at Rush Medical College of Chicago, preparatory to engaging in the practice of that profession. Mrs. Rogers is a lady of great refinement, and is highly respected in the social circle in which she moves. Her home is the abode of sociability and hospitality, and she possesses that inborn tact and delicacy which places all her guests at their case.
Politically, Mr. Rogers isa Republican, and entertains strong prohibition sentiments. He has been a resident of Fond du Lac County for nearly forty-five years, and is widely and favorably known.
