Notes for Mary Elizabeth BARNUM


From the Putnam County Courier, Carmel, New York, Friday, July 16, 1937: Mrs. Mary E. Sherwood, widow of Theadrick Sherwood, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Hanson of Patterson, Sunday evening July 11, 1937. Mrs. Sherwood, who was 82 years of age, was born in King Street district, Danbury, June 26, 1855, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Barnum. She had resided in Danbury until recently when she went to make her home with her daughter in Patterson. Mrs. Sherwood is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louis Hanson, of Patterson, and Mrs. Miles B. Alaby, of Brookfield; two sons, Orville Sherwood, of Danbury, and Edwin Sherwood, of Pawling, N. Y.; a sister, Mrs. Thankful Barnum of Danbury; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the home of her daughter in Patterson, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in Maple Avenue Cemetery.
