In 1939, Hiram was the owner of the Gibson Family Bible, published by Luther Roby in Concord, NH in 1850. The bible contained information about his mother, her siblings and their parents.
From the Utica Observer Dispatch, April 17, 1940: Hiram R. Barnum, 84, retired laundry proprietor, died Wednesday morning April 17, 1940 at his home after an illness of two days. Born in Waterville, NY, a son of the late Seth and Candace H. Gibson Barnum, he spent his early life there and came to Utica and engaged in the laundry business until 1909 when he retired. He was married in Calvary Episcopal Church to Nancy E. Borman. Besides his wife he leaves a brother Amos Barnum, Utica and several nieces and nephews. Interment Grand View Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY.
