Notes for Malvina J. BARNUM
From the Journal & Republican
, Lowville, New York, date unclear: The people of this village were shocked to hear that Mrs. Malvina Barnum Hufcut had passed away at Tuesday afternoon, as all supposed she was recovering from the severe attack of pneumonia with which she had been battling for several weeks but heart action was not strong enough to carry her through. Mrs. Hufcut was born in the town of Denmark, March 23, 1841, daughter of the late Ira and Eliza Barnum, and she was a lifelong resident of this town. She married George Hufcut on January 22, 1873, who died in August 1909. They lived together on their farm for 36 years, and three years after his death she sold the farm and purchased the present home in Deer River where she has spent a quiet home life alone caring for the duties of the home. She was greatly respected by a large number of friends.
She is survived by an adopted daughter Mrs. W. S. Brown of Carthage who has tenderly cared for her during this illness, and an aged brother Milo Barnum of Deer River, also one nephew, L.D. Barnum besides several cousins...Interment will be made in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery.
