A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname

Notes for Benjamin STEVENS

Benjamin, the third son of Thomas of Stamford, removed in 1680 to a place called "Hop Grounds" in what is now the town of Bedford, Weschester County, Connecticut but was then under the jurisdiction of Stamford. About 1700, Benjamin removed to Danbury. Benjamin and his brother Obediah were granted building lots by the Town of Stamford in 1676, for their "services against the common enemy."
