A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname

Notes for Sarah CONANT

Salem (originally Naumkeag) was founded at the mouth of the Naumkeag River in 1626 by a company of fishermen from Cape Ann led by Roger Conant (father of this Roger). The Salem Colony became part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony when the Puritans received a royal charter on 4 March 1629, which styled them the "Governor and Company of the Massachusetts Bay in New England".
