Born July 19, 1828 in Utica, New York. Chicago businessman at Barnum Brothers, Toys and Fancy Goods. Commissioner of Streets and Bridges, Lake Forest, Lake County, Illinois in 1873. Mayor of Lake Forest: 1870-1871, 1873-1874, 1879-1881. Residence, "Barnum House," 797 North Sheridan Road, which was originally built in 1859 but remodeled by Barnum in 1867.
His gravestone indicates a death date of June 1899, different from the official death record.
