Notes for Rebecca BOUGHTON


From the Troy Daily Times, Troy, NY, March 24 1899: At the home of her son on Washington Park, Mrs. Rebecca Boughton Barnum, widow of Milo Barnum, died this morning in her ninety-first year. Mrs. Barnum was the second daughter of Ezra and Sarah Wildman Boughton of Danbury, Conn., where she was born June 8, 1808. After her marriage she resided for many years at Buffalo and since 1863 with her children in Troy.Her surviving children are as follows: Mrs. Mary Frazer, Theodore F. Barnum, Mrs. I. Grant Thompson and F. W. Barnum.Another son, Ezra B. Barnum, died several years since at Washington, D. C. Mrs. Barnum's brothers and sisters were: Mrs. George Fry, Mrs. Willis Lord, D. D., E. W. Boughton, Mrs. M. K. Moore, E. H. Boughton and E. M. Boughton, the last named only surviving. Mrs. Barnum was of fine Christian character and retained all her mental faculties to the last.
